Let's Get Personal
Born in the panhandle of Texas, raised in Roswell, New Mexico, USA, as the 7th child to my parents Adolfo and Socorro Reyes Duràn. I was named by my father's uncle, Marissa after an American Doll named Marissa. I experienced a sheltered upbringing where my needs were met without question. At the age of 19, I had a rude awakening. I suffered a great deal of manipulation, physical, mental, and spiritual abuse, not to mention a great deal of poverty, by my then-boyfriend, which moved me away from my parents from New Mexico to Corpus Christi, Texas. That ordeal lasted 3 years, until I was reunited with my parents, my safe haven. I attended university and had a long and successful career.
I always felt like something was missing. I was sitting in my downtown Dallas, Texas office one day on Elm Street at the Renaissance Building, flipping through a magazine, and I thought, Wouldn't it be nice if I knew some of these people? The idea grew and years later, during the COVID shutdown, I got the nerve and courage to make my very own magazine go life for everyone to see.
I was in a great place financially, and my focus was to work with charities to help them raise funds for projects they needed in order to help those in need. I truly believe that things happen for me, not to me, had I not known what it was to be hungry without food or the means to get any. We would be here in this moment today.
I am currently writing a series of Financial books, and an autobiography, including a short one-story book, now available
